news back The contest Jury Members: The Laureates of Art-Sessio'2001: The annual exhibition-contest Art-Sessio'2001 took place in the Vitebsk-based Culture& Business Center on April 27. This year the Art-Sessio was held for the 10th time. The only sign of the "round date" were 10 memorial plates with the names of the Laureates of our contest. The celebrations were delayed for financial reasons. About 120 young artists presented their 156 works made in various genres and techniques. 137 works were accepted for the public exhibition by the "Art-Sessio" experts Victor Nickolaev (the Vitebsk Technological University) and Sergey Sotnikov (the Vitebsk State University). The exhibition participants represented Belarusian Academy of Arts, Belarusian University of Culture, Vitebsk Technological University, Vitebsk State University and Minsk Art College named after Y. Glebov. There were 7 nominations within the contest: painting, graphics, sculpture, decoration art, avant-garde, design and web-design. Glebov Dmitry Sursky - President of the Belarusian Union of designers Natalia Sharangovich - art historian, "Literature and Arts" weekly Victor Sorokin - Vitebsk State Technological University Alexander Slepov - Vitebsk State University The opening ceremony included performances of modern ballet "Gallery" (Grodno), choreographic studio "Parallels" (Vitebsk), dance group of Lithuanian Academy of Music (Vilnius) and "Gesture" dance theatre (Minsk). In addition to the usual program, a special exhibition of the previous years Laureates, participation of students from abroad and many other ideas are considered for the agenda of the "Art-Sessio" 2002.
